FEN-X test strips are a harm reduction screening tool designed to help detect the possible presence of fentanyl in a small sample. They are not a guarantee of safety—a negative result does not mean a substance is safe, and a positive result doesn’t indicate how much fentanyl is present. Always follow the included instructions and use additional safety steps whenever possible.
What is fentanyl?

Why is fentanyl so dangerous?
Fentanyl can be dangerous because it’s extremely potent, and a tiny amount may be enough to cause an overdose—especially if someone doesn’t know it’s present. Illicit substances may be contaminated through cross-contact or intentional adulteration, which makes the risk unpredictable.
What are fentanyl test strips?
Fentanyl test strips are a quick, affordable way to check a small sample of a substance for the presence of fentanyl. In general, you dissolve a small amount in water and use the strip to screen the mixture—similar in concept to other rapid test formats.
Are fentanyl test strips reliable?
When used correctly, fentanyl test strips can be a helpful screening tool—but no test is perfect. Results can be affected by how the sample is prepared and by the substance being tested.
